INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS TRAINING/OUTDOOR WEBELOS LEADER SKILLS
 
Corwin Training Center( Formerly the Baden-Powell Lodge), Winnebago Scout Reservation, Rockaway, NJ
 
The following session areas will be presented in this course:
  • The outdoor skills a Scout must learn in order to reach First Class rank, including First Aid, Building Fires, Cooking, Ropes – Whipping & Tying & Lashing, Using a Compass and Map, Working with Wood Tools, Identifying Plants and Animals, and lots of others
  • How to function using the patrol method
  • How to teach these skills to both youth and adults
 
Those who should take this training are:
  • Scouters already serving as Scoutmasters or assistant Scoutmasters, who are not yet trained.
  • Scouters expecting to serve as Scoutmasters or assistant Scoutmasters in the near future, such as Webelos den leaders and assistant Webelos den leaders.
  • Scouters interested in learning more about Boy Scouting and how a troop runs a successful outdoor program, such as troop committee chairs and committee members.
  • 17 year-old Scouts expecting to become assistant Scoutmasters in the future.
  • Webelos Leaders(you will get credit for both Outdoor Webelos Leader Skills and Intro. to Outdoor Leader Skills which you will need for Boy Scouts).
NOTE: This is required training for all Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters.
 
The cost for the course, which includes the cost of all meals, is $45.00, if you register early.  Please check each course registration page for the early bird deadline.  After early bird has closed, the regular cost is $55.00.  No walk-ins are allowed.  
 
 
Preparation:
  • Wear your Class A uniform if possible.
  • The full equipment list is available on the registration page for the course in the Council Calendar.
  • Annual Health and Medical Record Parts A & B are required for this course!
  • Coffee and tea will be provided, but please bring your own mug.  “A Scout is thrifty.”
  • If you have any food allergies, please contact the course director in advance to make appropriate arrangements.

MUST BE TURNED IN DURING CHECK-IN FRIDAY EVENING WITH PAPER COPY IN HAND.

Cancellation Policy
Refunds: Individuals or groups that cancel a program reservation 30 days prior to the date of the event will receive a refund of fees paid, less a 15% administrative charge. No refunds will be made after the 30 day cancellation deadline, unless there is a medical or other emergency.
